GBV and Gender Sensitivity
- Establishing functional SGBV prevention and response procedures and coordination mechanisms to support the safety of survivors and the general population within the settlement, which will include the following activities;
- 1.1. Facilitating the sustained participation of the community in SGBV prevention and response;
- 1.2. Providing psychosocial counseling for members of the community who have experienced SGBV trauma, as well as for families of those who have undergone this trauma;
- Strengthening the legal structures for dealing with SGBV cases by working with local government authorities, this will include the following activities;
- 2.1. Ensuring that women, children and persons with special needs have the necessary documentation;
- 2.2. Instituting effective child-friendly mechanisms to identify children at risk;
- 2.3. Educating the women and girls at risk on local legal processes;
- 2.4. Establishing community-based Child Protection structures, with community leaders and stakeholders taking the lead in preventing, reporting and responding to these issues;
- 2.5. Facilitating legal integration in order to foster positive relationships between the refugees and the local government authorities (through holding jointly planned SGBV campaign rallies; as well as organizing joint community policing activities)
- Strengthening the state ministry of social development and GBV partners, this will include the following:
- 3.1. Facilitating equal access to education opportunities, with special emphasis on girl-child education, thereby discouraging the practice of early child marriages;
- 3.2. Facilitating equal access to health services, especially to support survivors of SGBV, as well as persons with special needs;
- 3.3. Creating leadership opportunities for women, youth (especially girls) and persons with special needs in the community-based activities;
